Day 1 – 30 Days of Yoga & Meditation for Beginners

  • Yoga for beginners with Lesley Fightmaster
  • Meditation with Faith Hunter

When I started doing yoga again during the first COVID lockdown, I stumbled on to Lesley’s 30 days for beginners and really appreciated that it truly was for beginners. It was a small group of us following along with her together and then we moved on to try other programs. In Nov 2021 Lesley passed away unexpectedly and it still makes me sad, even though I never met her. I do know that she was in my house many days in 2020 and 2021 and I think about her whenever I hit the mat!

So, in starting over in 2022 I thought it appropriate to have her with us to celebrate her life and impact to our yoga practice. I hope you enjoy her practice as much as I have!

For those that are interested, I’m also taking a wack at mediation again. I’ll add the links in case you want to play along, they won’t be more than 10 minutes each for the 30 day program I found.

Off we go!

Namaste roughly meaning ‘the light within me bows to the light within you’ and is generally said at the end of a yoga class, bowing the head with palms pressed together at the heart.

Notes from Lesley:

Yoga for beginners at home (15 minute class) 30 day yoga challenge : welcome to day 1. In our first class, we’ll focus a lot on ujjayi breathing (pranayama), the natural curves in the spine and how to support them. We’ll practice such yoga poses as: apanasana (wind relieving pose!), table, cat and cow, and of course savasana which is our final resting pose. Be sure to push pause if you need a break and also, drink plenty of water throughout this 30 day challenge.

Don’t worry if you’re not flexible or can’t do the poses perfectly. The motto of Fightmaster Yoga is “It’s not about the pose”. You don’t have to be perfect.

All you have to do is show up. When you make the decision to take care of yourself, all sorts of amazing things begin to happen. You have more energy. You become more patient. Your outlook on life becomes more positive. And all of these changes you will experience in this yoga journey will begin to affect those around you in ways you never dreamed possible.

This practice can bring a loving, positive energy that will spread throughout your world. And as you deepen your yoga practice you will have the opportunity to meet many like minded souls like yourself who are also laying down their mat and doing the work.
