Notes from Adriene on Day 15

Good Day!

I am happy to say – the eagle has landed… at the halfway mark.

How many days does it take to form a habit?

(Like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie pop?)

21? 29? 30? 42? 66?

Many believe that there is no set number of days (that we can prove) to form a lasting habit. Most say it can take anywhere from 2 months to 2 years.

I say – stay in the present and knock off this habit talk for just a second.

What if, instead of considering “healthy habits” we replaced the word habit with ritual.

Healthy Rituals.

It makes sense to me that for a ritual (non-satanic), it is best if you are present.

The idea of creating Healthy Rituals sounds like something I want to do – not something I HAVE to do.

Just think about that for a moment.

Researchers have shown that if you are on the path to creating a new habit – whoops- I mean ritual – it is okay if you get off track. Studies have shown that those who miss a day or more can still stay on the ritual/habit forming a path to success.

So, it is the halfway mark! If you have missed a class or two – make it up when you can and stick with the practice.

This will feel so clear and awesome (I think) on Day 30 when you experience that sequence.

Stay present. Drop in.

Consider Yoga practice (or workout) as a ritual for the next 15 days.

All right now – for DAY 15:

No experience with Ardha Chandrasana or Half Moon?

NO PROBLEM!!!

Day 15 welcomes you to drop into your practice. This sequence can be done in half an hour. It provides an opportunity to relish in the space that you have cultivated in the last 14 days.

Today would be the perfect day to commit to staying present. You have made it this far – stay in the moment and reconnect to your intentions. This 30 min yoga sequence is great for anxiety and stress relief. This practice takes its time and invites us to keep it fresh and alive! Connect to your breath, lift your heart, and go with the flow.

ENJOY!

Because you’re worth it.

AWESOME WORK, MY FRIENDS!

Namaste,

Adriene
