Notes from Adriene on Day 2:
Why does Day 2 seem like the hardest?
I am an actor and it is an old theory in the theatre that the second-day performance after opening night is usually a bomb.
Not “Da Bomb” but like, it bombs.
Now, I don’t know if I subscribe to this idea anymore but I will say that it has taught me to look at where the energy is coming from. You have to go on, you have to perform, you have to cultivate the creativity and the energy from somewhere. Or it is a bomb. And you are worth way more than a second night sucky performance.
You are responsible for cultivating that creativity and energy from somewhere.
It has to come from within.
Using the breath is the best tool for cultivating newfound energy and joy.
When I got on my mat for Day 2, I felt like distracted poo. When I rose out of Savasana, I actually felt warmth and pride.
I knew I had stirred some energy up from within. I knew I had made the right choice.
So, in today’s practice, stretch it out and soothe your soul by cultivating that energy from within.
You begin to consider this now – and you will be more likely to keep up with this 30 Days Of Yoga thing.
Use this Day 2 practice to stretch tight muscles and soothe the nervous system – even an achy heart.
This first week we take time to connect to the big picture and a full body experience. Practice staying present as we deepen the practice and learn vocabulary to play with on our mat. Practices change from day to day – and get shorter towards the end. Stick with it! Take this time for yourself. Have the courage to take the time for yourself! Get empowered, find what feels good, listen to your body, and don’t forget to have some fun!
Thank you for all of the awesome posts and connections. Your honesty and positivity are contagious!
Have a great practice! See you tomorrow!
Warmly,
Adriene
